3 Thurston health care workers suspended for misdeeds

The state Department of Health has suspended the licenses of three Thurston County health care providers.

The Licensed Independent Social Worker and Chemical Dependency Professional programs have entered an agreement with social worker/chemical dependency professional Geoffrey Coleman Schiller that suspends his credentials for at least five years. Schiller engaged in sexual misconduct after he retired from his workplace, engaging in a relationship with a former client.

The Emergency Medical Services Program has suspended the emergency medical technician credential of Kyle W. Baxter for at least three years. In 2014, Baxter was convicted on a federal charge of filing false, fictitious and fraudulent claims based on his filing of fraudulent federal tax returns.

And the Nursing Commission has indefinitely suspended the registered nurse credential of Nicole Cadieux. Cadieux’s Florida RN credential was suspended in connection with drug diversion.

The Department of Health’s Health Systems Quality Assurance Division works with boards, commissions and advisory committees to set licensing standards for more than 80 health care professions.

Information about health care providers is on the agency’s website, doh.wa.gov. Click on “Look up a health care provider license” in the “How Do I?” section of the Department of Health home page. The site includes information about a health care provider’s license status, the expiration and renewal date of their credential, disciplinary actions and copies of legal documents issued after July 1998. This information is also available by calling 360-236-4700.

Consumers who think a health care provider acted unprofessionally are also encouraged to call and report their complaint.
