Star Trek, Alchemy and Magic: Aubrey Forest, avid “Star Trek” fan, educator and philosopher, will present at the Olympia Timberland Library, 313 Eighth Ave. SE., 7:30-8:45 p.m. The program will explore the themes, symbols and mythology that make “Star Trek” popular. Books by the Bay: South Sound Reading Foundation will host a mystery-themed dinner and event, 6 p.m. at Olympia’s Port Plaza. “Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem” features appearances by best-selling author J. Jance and award-winning mystery writer Glen Erik Hamilton, a silent auction, food by Ramblin’ Jacks, cocktails, live jazz with the Gary Scott Trio, emcee Dick Pust and a chance to meet the authors. $55.
