Army sergeant pleads guilty to stalking, gets jail time
A 40-year-old Army sergeant has been sentenced to 364 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to stalking his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend.
Cory D. Schuyler pleaded guilty in Thurston County Superior Court on June 14 to two counts of stalking and two counts of violation of a no-contact order. All four charges are misdemeanors.
Schuyler was twice arrested for stalking the victims. In February, he was accused of placing GPS trackers on both victims’ cars, and of sending several text messages.
The female victim found one of the trackers on her car and called police, according to court documents. Schuyler also was accused of vandalizing the male victim’s car.
Schuyler was arrested again in March after text messages to the victims resumed.
At the time of his arrest, Schuyler was a sergeant first class stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, according to court documents. The female victim reported that Schuyler has weapons and surveillance expertise because of his Army training.
