Video footage shows Artesian Commons attack that hospitalized an Olympia man

Four people are facing misdemeanor assault charges following an altercation last week at the Artesian Commons Park, in downtown Olympia.

The assault victim was briefly hospitalized following the July 26 incident. Olympia police released surveillance footage of the fight on Aug. 2, one week after the assault.

The footage shows multiple people hitting a man in a blue shirt. The man sustained two black eyes and a cut on his face.

Officers responded to the downtown Olympia park at about 8 p.m. after an off-duty park ranger spotted the altercation and called 911. The security footage led to the arrests of multiple people, said Lt. Paul Lower.
