Police searching for suspect after woman reports rape in Tumwater

Tumwater police are trying to locate a male suspect after a 41-year-old woman reported being physically and sexually assaulted Monday evening, the department wrote in a release Wednesday.

According to the police report, the woman was walking south in the 9100 block of Kimmie Street Southwest at about 5:30 p.m. Monday when she was grabbed by a man and pulled into a wooded area to the west of the street.

She said the man physically and sexual assaulted her, and when she attempted to escape, continued to physically assault her. The man then fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, the report says.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-10 white man about 30-35 years old with facial hair. He may have hair that is red in color, according to the report, and may have been wearing a blue spandex athletic shirt with short sleeves, which was tucked into his pants. He also possibly was wearing a brown leather belt and two pairs of underwear.

According to the report, the woman saw two young men pass on bicycles prior to the assault who were not related to the assault. Police want to locate them as well.

Any information should be directed to Tumwater police, 360-754-4200, or Crime Stoppers, 360-222-8477.
