Man crashes into patrol car, discards bag of drugs in escape attempt, deputies say

A 31-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning after attempting to flee deputies, crashing his car into a patrol vehicle, and discarding a Crown Royal bag full of what appeared to be methamphetamine as he ran away, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop just after 1 a.m. in the 500 block of Centre Street in Rainier, and the man attempted to flee.

He pulled into a residential driveway, the release says, but shifted into reverse, rolled back down and crashed into the patrol vehicle.

The man then attempted to escape on foot, discarding the Crown Royal bag as he ran. He was detained and booked into Thurston County Jail for a hit-and-run attempt and carrying a synthetic narcotic.
