Shelton police find explosives after Saturday morning disturbance that injured 1
Shelton Police found explosives in a home in the 2100 block of South First Street after a man was injured in a Saturday morning disturbance.
Police urged people to stay away from the area until the items were safely removed, which had happened by mid Saturday afternoon.
Arrests for weapons violations are expected, Shelton police said in a statement.
Shelton Police were dispatched to the home about 5:30 a.m. Saturday after multiple calls of gunshots fired and sounds of people screaming.
Upon arrival, police found a 35-year-old Shelton man with an injury to his head. He was transported to the Mason General Hospital with what police believed were non-life threatening injuries.
The victim told police that one of the suspects appeared to be a Pacific Islander man, and that he’d fled prior to police arriving. It is unknown the cause of the assault, a news release said, but police are confident the public is in no imminent danger from the shooter, according to Captain Mike Fiola.
Detectives sought a search warrant to look for evidence. Once inside the house, police found a variety of weapons, including what appear to be explosive devices. The area bomb squad was brought in to investigate, and the items were removed before 3 p.m.
Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Shelton Police Department at 360-426-4441 and reference case #19-S03715.
