One person in critical condition following Yauger Park fight, three arrested

Police in Olympia arrested three people overnight after a fight in Yauger Park that sent two people to the hospital with stab wounds.

Police were called to the park on Cooper Point Road Southwest about 11:40 p.m. for a report of a disturbance involving about a dozen people, according to Olympia Police Lt. Paul Lower. Some of the people ran away as police arrived.

One male was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital with a stab wound to the front torso. He remains in critical condition, according to Lower.

Another was treated at a local hospital for a stab wound to the back and released.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault: a 19-year-old man, a 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy.

Lower said the fight between two groups started after someone on one side made a comment about a female on the other side.

The incident is under investigation.
