A 41-year-old Spokane man driving a stolen pickup truck ended up in the hospital Friday morning after a pursuit in Mason County that involved multiple law enforcement agencies.

The blue pickup truck driven by the Spokane man was reported stolen earlier in the day. When a Mason County deputy spotted the truck on Shelton-Matlock Road near Carmen Road, he attempted to stop it, but the truck took off and pursuit ensued until the pickup driver rammed the deputy’s vehicle.

A fully marked Shelton Police SUV then took over the pursuit in Shelton at westbound State Route 106. The SUV pitted the pickup, which struck the eastbound ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its wheels.

The Spokane man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton. The pickup was totalled.

The incident is under investigation and charges are pending.

The road was blocked for almost 4-1/2 hours.
