With K-9 assist, Tumwater police arrest suspect in condo burglary

A man was booked into jail on suspicion of residential burglary and second-degree theft in Tumwater after an assist from a Thurston County Sheriff’s K-9 early Wednesday morning, Tumwater police say.

About 2:45 a.m., the owner of a condominium on the 1500 block of Lake Park Drive Southwest reported she heard someone outside a bedroom where she and her son were, Tumwater police spokesperson Laura Wohl told The Olympian.

When police got there, officers didn’t find a suspect inside the condo, but a K-9 on the scene found the man outside on the lawn. The man, who is 49 and has no known address, appeared intoxicated, Wohl said.

Wohl said it appeared only a debit card found in the man’s belongings was taken from the condo. No weapons were found, there was no indication the man knew anyone was in the condo, and the caller never came in contact with the suspect.
