Bodies found Tuesday in Thurston County under investigation as double homicide

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deaths of an adult woman and child, whose bodies were found near Tolmie State Park Tuesday, as a double homicide.

Deputies were dispatched to the 5700 block of Puget Beach Road Northeast about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after residents discovered the bodies while hiking on a logging trail in the area, Lt. Ray Brady told The Olympian Tuesday.

There was evidence of trauma to the woman’s body, he said. The office did not release the child’s gender or age.

As of Thursday, there was not definitive cause or manner of death or identifications to release, Brady said. Autopsies were scheduled for Friday.

Brady described the case as “very active,” and said the office would like the public’s help in finding a vehicle in connection to its investigation.

The vehicle is a black 2009 Chevy HHR with Washington license plate number BNA8935. The office would not yet release how the vehicle was involved.

“If somebody sees this car, then we want that call,” Brady said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Thurston County 911 dispatch at 360-704-2740.
