Man leads troopers on chase, strikes police vehicle, hits deputy in head with animal bone
A 58-year-old man from the Olympia area was taken into custody Saturday morning after leading multiple law enforcement agencies on a chase.
The pursuit started after a Washington State Patrol trooper attempted to stop the van the man was driving for multiple traffic violations, according to trooper Ryan Burke’s Twitter account.
After the stop was made, the van reversed, attempting to strike the trooper’s vehicle.
The suspect struck an Olympia Police Department vehicle during the pursuit that followed, and the van was ultimately spiked and pitted.
The suspect emerged from his vehicle carrying an “animal bone,” and struck a Thurston County deputy in the head while he was being detained. The deputy was not seriously injured.
The suspect is facing charges of third-degree assault and felony eluding.
