Tuesday night Tilley Road pursuit reached 100 miles per hour, Sheriff’s Office says
A brief high-speed chase near Tenino ended in a man’s arrest Tuesday night, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office says.
About 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy ran the license plate of a vehicle driving south on Tilley Road Southwest near 140th Avenue Southwest, Lt. Ray Brady told The Olympian.
The vehicle’s color didn’t match what was on its registration, which can sometimes indicate that a person is trying to cover up a stolen vehicle, Brady said.
When the deputy tried to stop the vehicle to investigate, Brady said, it took off down Tilley Road.
The pursuit reached about 100 miles per hour at points, Brady said, before the driver turned east onto Old Highway 99 Southeast and into a driveway on the 17400 block.
The driver, a 33-year-old man from the Tenino area, reportedly told deputies he fled because he had a suspended driver license. Deputies believe the man took plates off another vehicle on the property, Brady said, and they do not believe the vehicle he was driving was stolen.
The man was taken into custody on suspicion of eluding a police vehicle and charges related to narcotics found in the vehicle, Brady said.
