Lacey Police need help finding the driver of this car

Lacey Police are asking the public for help identifying the driver of a vehicle reportedly involved in a hit and run on Tuesday, July 7.

The vehicle is reported to be a third generation Volkswagen Golf with an aftermarket blue paint job.

At about 3 p.m. Tuesday, the Volkswagen used both lanes of 26th Avenue Southeast to navigate a curve when it struck a car heading in the opposite direction on the 4500 block of the residential street. The struck car was carrying two elderly people, the driver was 78 according to according to Lacey Police Sargent Shannon Barnes.

On 07-07-2020 at approximately 1510 hours, the third generation Volkswagen Golf with an aftermarket blue paint job shown in the video crossed into the other lane of traffic while negotiating a curve and collided with an elderly couple in the 4500 block of 26th Ave SE. In home security camera footage police used in their post, a passenger of the Volkswagen can be seen exiting the vehicle, looking around then getting back into the car and driving off. Plumes of gray smoke were coming from the car as it left the scene.

The two people in the other car were uninjured in the collision, Barnes told the Olympian.
