Olympia police arrest 2 suspects in Tuesday armed robbery
A man and woman, both residents of Olympia, were arrested in the early morning hours Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery reported Tuesday afternoon on the city’s west side.
About 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to Sunrise Park, according to Olympia Police Lt. Paul Lower, where a woman reported she had been walking her dog when two acquaintances flagged her down.
She said they stopped and got out of their vehicle, then one pointed a black handgun at her and threatened to shoot her if she moved or drew attention, according to Lower. The suspects reportedly took money out of her wallet, then drove away.
The victim knew the first and last name of both suspects, Lower said, and gave officers a description of their vehicle and where they tend to hang out.
About 10:30 p.m., officers spotted the vehicle registered to one of the suspects at a hotel on the 4700 block of Park Center Avenue Northeast, Lower said. Officers then set up a perimeter and got a search warrant for the hotel room at about midnight, according to Lower.
Officers took both suspects — a 20-year-old Olympia woman and 28-year-old Olympia man — into custody on suspicion of first-degree robbery and booked them into Thurston County jail.
The Olympian does not name suspects until they’ve appeared in court.
