Olympia Police were called to the scene of a fatal shooting at around 11:30 a.m. Monday in an alleyway in the 400 block of Cooper Point Road SW.

Lt. Paul Lower said police received a call from a man stating he had gotten into a physical altercation with another man and shot him. Lower said one man produced a large pipe and charged the man with the gun. The man fired at him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

OPD detectives are currently investigating the incident and have detained the man with the firearm, though nobody has been arrested, Lower said.
