Thurston County man sentenced to more than 8 years for molesting Lacey area minors

A Thurston County man was sentenced Monday to more than eight years in prison for molesting two teenagers.

Keith Douglas Thompson, 51, will serve 101 and a half months in prison with 36 months of probation, according to Monday’s sentencing in before Judge James Dixon in Thurston County Superior Court. He must also register as a sex offender.

In January, Thompson pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree child molestation and two counts of third-degree child molestation. Court documents say that in 2011, Thompson had moved in with a relative in a Lacey area apartment and molested a 13-year-old girl. In 2014, Thompson was arrested and charged with molesting a 15-year-old male at a different residence in Lacey.

At Monday’s court hearing, the mothers of both victims gave emotional accounts of the turmoil their families are suffering as a result of Thompson’s crimes. One of the mothers said Thompson’s imprisonment will ensure there are no more victims.

Judge Dixon praised the families for having the courage to show up at court and share their stories.

Thompson apologized to the families Monday and said he wanted the victims to be able to move on with their lives.
