A 33-year-old man accused of stabbing and sexually assaulting a woman in Lacey is being held in the Thurston County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Lacey police arrested Ryan Matthew Whiteeagle Bracero on Sunday on suspicion of multiple domestic violence crimes. On Monday, Thurston County Superior Court Commissioner Nathan Kortokrax found probable cause for eight alleged counts and set the bail amount.

Specifically, Whiteeagle Bracero has been accused of two counts of first-degree assault while armed with a deadly weapon, first-degree kidnapping, three counts of first-degree rape, second-degree assault while armed with a deadly weapon and second-degree malicious mischief.

In setting the bail amount, Kortokrax said Whiteeagle Bracero could not be released on his personal recognizance because there is a substantial danger he may commit a violent crime.

The alleged crimes occurred on Saturday at an apartment in the 8500 block of Litt Drive Southeast, off Martin Way. Lacey police responded to the apartment at about 10 p.m. for a reported stabbing, Sgt. Shannon Barnes previously told The Olympian.

A woman told police Whiteeagle Bracero held her against her will and stabbed her multiple times with knives, Barnes said. She told police she escaped the apartment and sought help after he fell asleep.

Whiteeagle Bracero also has been accused of strangling and assaulting another person on Jan. 27 in a separate Thurston County Superior Court case. A trial for that case has been tentatively scheduled for July 25.

In that case, prosecutors have charged him with four domestic violence crimes, including second-degree assault, second-degree malicious mischief and two counts of fourth-degree assault.

A probable cause statement describes the investigation into the Saturday incident from the perspective of law enforcement.

A woman told dispatch Whiteeagle Bracero, who she had been dating for about three years, had stabbed her multiple times in the arms and legs. First responders arrived just before 10 p.m.

Lacey fire personnel treated the woman at the scene while police interviewed her, according to the statement. She told police Whiteeagle Bracero had held her at knifepoint in their shared apartment since 8 p.m. Friday and assaulted her in various painful ways.

After an initial interview, the statement says an ambulance transported her to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

At the hospital, she shared with police more details about the events leading up to the assault. She said Whiteeagle Bracero broke several of her possessions on Friday, including her laptop and smartphone.

They then went to the Nisqually Red Wind Casino with his sibling. Later at home, he allegedly accused her of cheating on him and prohibited her from leaving.

She said Whiteeagle Bracero then began stabbing and cutting her with a small pocketknife and “razor” knife, according to the statement. She also alleged he forced her to put her feet in a box containing a “poisonous spider” he brought home.

She further alleged Whiteeagle Bracero cut her waist length hair to shoulder length and then sexually assaulted her. During this time, he allegedly used methamphetamine and forced her to use some too.

After his temper cooled, the statement says Whiteeagle forced her to clean the apartment and then he fell asleep on the couch. She took the opportunity to escape and request help from a neighbor, according to the statement.

Police arrested Whiteeagle Bracero at about 12:50 a.m. Sunday and found two knives on his person, according to the statement. They also allegedly found a bloody paper towel and a baggie of suspected methamphetamine.

Whiteeagle is due back in court on June 7 for his arraignment, according to court records.
