Suspect in Lacey apartment stabbing held on $20K bail

Bail was set at $20,000 for a man accused of stabbing another man in the chest at a Lacey apartment complex.

Ted Cruz Iglesias, 43, appeared Monday in Thurston County Superior Court and is accused of second-degree assault. His arraignment is set for July 28.

Iglesias was arrested around 8:45 p.m. Saturday (July 11) at the College Glen Apartments, 4895 55th Lane SE. Witnesses told police that Iglesias and another man were arguing near the playground at the apartment complex when a fight broke out, according to court documents.

During the fight, the victim suffered a stab wound to his upper left abdomen after Iglesias allegedly retrieved a white object from his belt line. None of the witnesses had observed a weapon. The fight allegedly started over a sexual relationship between Iglesias and the victim’s girlfriend, according to documents.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Lacey Police Department.

At Monday’s court hearing, prosecutors said Iglesias’ criminal record includes six prior felonies committed in California, including two burglary convictions in 2008.
