A 40-year-old man was booked into the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault, domestic violence, and unlawful possession of a firearm and controlled substances after he is believed to have shot another man twice in the leg Thursday night.

Olympia Police Lt. Paul Lower said officers were dispatched at 9:50 p.m. Feb. 22 to the 600 block of Cushing Street Southwest, near Abalon Pointe Apartment Homes after dispatch received reports that there was a person in the alley with a gunshot wound.

When officers arrived, they found two men, one with a wound to the ankle/lower leg. Medical aid was called and the man was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Lower said officers learned that the two men were having a conversation about living arrangements at a house in the area when one shot the other.

After an investigation and multiple search warrants from Thurston County Superior Court, Lower said the suspect was arrested and booked into the Thurston County jail.
