It’s been a month since a man who was assaulted on Olympia’s east side died from his injuries. Olympia Police arrested two suspects in the assault on Wednesday.

According to a social media post from the police department, a suspect was identified and taken into custody Wednesday. The assault happened on Feb. 19 in the 3200 block of Martin Way East. The victim was found unconscious with a serious head injury in a wooded area. He died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Feb. 23.

Police Lt. Paul Lower said a 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. His girlfriend, 26, was arrested and booked on suspicion of rendering criminal assistance.

Olympia officers were assisted on the arrest by the Thurston County Sheriff Office, the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force, the Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office and the Department of Corrections.
