Olympia police arrest man armed with pistol after finding cocaine and more in car
The Olympia Police Department shared on social media details of an Aug. 3 arrest of a man on suspicion of intent to deliver a narcotic while armed.
According to the Thursday social media post, OPD officers stopped a driver at 2:30 a.m. Aug. 3 for failing to use his turn signal in the 3800 block of Ensign Road Northeast. When officers contacted the driver, they noticed a firearm tucked between the driver seat and center console.
Officers were able to confirm the man had a valid concealed pistol license and the firearm was registered to the driver. When asked if there were any illegal items in the car, the driver said no.
According to the post, officers also observed a plastic bag containing smaller plastic bags on the floor of the car. The driver gave police permission to search the vehicle.
Police found multiple small plastic bags of cocaine totaling 13.15 grams. They also found $360 in cash, two phones and even more small plastic bags.
The man was booked into the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, with an enhancement of being armed with a deadly weapon.
