Driver arrested after Olympia police report finding fentanyl, stolen gun in car
Olympia police arrested a 33-year-old man accused of carrying fentanyl, meth and a stolen gun after a Saturday night traffic stop.
Officers attempted to stop the man for an “equipment violation,” according to a Wednesday Facebook post by the Olympia Police Department.
The post indicates the man did not initially stop and officers observed his silhouette lean down toward the floorboards. However, he eventually pulled into a parking lot and was detained “without incident.”
The Thurston County jail log indicates Olympia police arrested the man on the 4700 block of Park Center Avenue NE in Lacey, which is just northeast of the College Street and Martin Way intersection.
Officers searched the man and allegedly found black brass knuckles, two cell phones, suspected fentanyl powder and $2,235 in cash, according to the post. He allegedly told the officers he had more fentanyl in the vehicle, prompting them to look inside.
Officers reported finding a pistol underneath the driver’s seat and more drug paraphernalia in plain view, according to the post.
After obtaining a warrant, officers reported recovering 11.2 grams of suspected fentanyl powder, 12 fentanyl pills, and 26.6 grams of meth from the man’s vehicle.
Officers booked the man into the county jail on suspicion of several crimes, including failure to obey a police officer, third-degree driving while license suspended, possession of a dangerous weapon, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.
Additionally, he was booked on unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver while armed, possession of a controlled substance and multiple active warrants, according to the jail log.
