Thurston County deputies arrested a man accused of dealing drugs after a Tuesday night pursuit that led into Pierce County.

The man fled from a deputy who attempted a traffic stop in the Lacey area, Sheriff Derek Sanders posted on Facebook. The suspect reportedly drove a silver sedan with no license plates.

Deputies tried to stop the driver by attempting a PIT maneuver, or precision immobilization technique, however the driver continued to flee into Pierce County.

The driver eventually crashed into a ditch on Canyon Road near Puyallup, Sanders said. The suspect’s pregnant partner who was in the vehicle with him was not injured in the crash.

Deputies searched the vehicle and recovered suspected narcotics, scales, baggies and paraphernalia, Sanders said.

The Thurston County jail roster identified the driver as a 31-year-old man. He was booked on suspicion of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and third-degree driving while license suspended.

Sanders said the driver also had warrants out for his arrest throughout the Puget Sound region for driving without an ignition interlock, malicious mischief, domestic violence, and fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

“Great work by our deputies and partner agencies up north who helped us get another drug dealer off our streets,” Sanders said in his post.
