Thurston County man suspected of raping 14-year-old girl

A Thurston County judge set bail at $250,000 for a 36-year-old Thurston County man suspected of raping his girlfriend’s 14-year-old daughter.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office arrested the man Tuesday morning, and he was booked into the Thurston County Jail. At a Tuesday afternoon court hearing, Judge Anne Hirsch set bail and found probable cause for one count of first-degree rape. The Olympian does not name suspects when doing so might identify the victims.

Court documents give the following account of the events leading to the man’s arrest:

Deputies responded to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia on Monday evening after a 14-year-old girl reported that she had been raped by her mother’s boyfriend. The girl told investigators that her mother’s boyfriend had entered her room early that morning, and he wasn’t wearing any clothes.

She said he sat on the floor next to her bed, and began talking to her. She said he showed her a gun and said he would shoot anyone who came into the room. He told her to take off her clothes before raping her. He told the girl not to tell anyone.

The girl told her aunt what happened, and she was taken to the emergency room. A nurse reported that the girl had vaginal injuries.
