Woman rescued from ravine near Yelm, injuries unknown
A 50-year-old woman was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital after rescue crews pulled her from her car, which had driven into a 300-foot ravine near Yelm, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and fire crews responded to the scene, located on State Route 510 between Yelm and the Red Wind Casino, at about 11 a.m. Thursday morning. The woman had driven off the road, and was trapped in a blue Mazda at the bottom of a 300-foot bank. Lt. Cliff Ziesemer said the extent of the woman’s injuries is unknown.
Two firefighters were lowered down to the woman, and she was pulled from the car at about noon.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash, Ziesemer said.
