K9 helps deputies track robbery suspects in east Thurston County early Wednesday

Thurston County deputies arrested three people on suspicion of robbery Wednesday with help from a K9 dog.

The robbery occurred at about 2 a.m. in the 11100 block of Winlock Court Southeast near the Nisqually River, according to court records.

A woman called 911 to report two people had robbed her at gunpoint and ran away. She told deputies she was asleep in her car when her door was opened and her dogs began barking. She said a woman demanded money from her while a man pressed a shotgun to her head, per court records.

She said the pair took her purse which contained about $280 in cash, cigarettes, debit cards, tax forms, her ID card and five lottery scratch tickets.

K9 dog Mac tracked the suspects’ scent from the scene of the alleged robbery directly to a nearby residence, the TCSO K9 Unit shared on Facebook Wednesday.

Deputies surrounded the residence and called out for any occupants to exit. A 28-year-old man exited first and was immediately detained.

Court records indicate Thurston County District Court Judge Brett Buckley signed off on a warrant at about 3:38 p.m.

Deputies then searched the home and found two other occupants: a 36-year-old woman and 20-year-old man who reportedly chose to hide under a bed.

Deputies allegedly recovered a single barrel shotgun with three loaded shells under a back porch. They also found a backpack with $620 in cash as well as five lottery scratch tickets on the property.

The woman who was robbed allegedly identified two of the occupants as her assailants. One of them, the 28-year-old, allegedly told deputies he did not take part in the robbery and blamed the 20-year-old man.

The 36-year-old woman suspected of robbery allegedly admitted to deputies that a plan was made to rob the victim for drugs and that the 20-year-old man held the victim at gunpoint. Deputies arrested all three and booked them into the county jail, per the jail roster.

Deputies placed the $620 in cash, the shotgun and wallets into evidence while the scratch cards were returned to the victim. No other items belonging to the victim were located.
