Man arrested after striking woman in head, placing deputy in headlock in Lacey

The Lacey Police Department arrested a 45-year-old man on Friday after he allegedly struck a woman in the head numerous times and later placed a deputy in a headlock.

Sheriff Derek Sanders posted about the incident on social media at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, July 5. He said the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office assisted Lacey officers in the search of a suspect who had struck a woman in the head numerous times on Martin Way before leaving the area.

He said a TCSO deputy spotted the suspect a short time later. The deputy tried to detain the suspect, and a fight broke out. The suspect then put the deputy into a headlock.

Sanders said additional units arrived on scene and placed the suspect under arrest. According to Thurston County Jail logs, a 45-year-old man was arrested at 1:24 p.m. Friday in the 5400 block of Martin Way East for suspicion of second-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief.

Sanders nor the Lacey Police Department could be immediately reached for more information regarding the arrest.
