People of Faith Climate Actions: A vigil is planned from noon-1 p.m. Thursday — shortly after Pope Francis’ address to Congress on climate change — at Rep. “Together We Are Stronger”: A free women’s health event from 6-8 p.m. at South Sound Breast Center at South Sound Radiology, 3417 Ensign Road NE, Olympia. Get the latest on breast health education and 3-D mammograms, presented by Dr. Lawrence Bennett, meet the staff, schedule a 3-D mammogram, and enjoy appetizers and refreshments.

Sept. 25

2015-16 SPSCC Jazz Series: The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet opens the 2015-16 SPSCC Jazz Series. Tickets are $25 for general admission, and $20 for students, staff and faculty. The performance is 7:30 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center Black Box, 2011 Mottman Road SW. Includes a wine tasting for guests 21-years-old and older, and a guitar workshop with Bergara will be offered the afternoon of the performance. Bingo Karaoke Party: Bingo alternates with karaoke and sing-along from 7-10 p.m. at the Shelton Pavilion, 190 Sentry Drive. Optional Western theme this month. Open to adults 21 and older. $10 cash per person for 8 games of bingo. All proceeds support the Mason County Senior Activities Center at the Pavilion. Doors open at 6 p.m. Information: 360-426-7374.

Downtown parking management discussion: The Downtown Academy presents a discussion on parking in downtown Olympia, 8:30 a.m., New Caldonia Building, 116 Fifth Ave. SW.

Downtown Clean Up and Day of Caring: In addition to the clean-up, five projects are scheduled to be painted, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Meet at 115 State Ave. SE, Olympia, Olympia Press Building. (Entrance at the back.) To help with painting, contact Anna Schlecht at 360-753-8183. A Day of Caring After Party with food and drinks will begin at 4 p.m. at the Press Building.

Farmers Market Agritourist Dinner Series. Friends of the Olympia Farmers Market and Ben Moore’s Restaurant host the event, which includes a five-course dinner with complimentary wine or beer from local wineries and breweries. The Olympia Farmers Market provides all of the food for the event. Tickets are available at the Farmers Market and at Ben Moore’s. The event starts at 6 p.m. followed by the music at 7 p.m. All proceeds go to the Friends of the Farmer’s Market scholarship fund.

Celtic harpist and violist to play Cafe Love: Debut Olympia performance by Oregon Celtic harpist and multi-instrumentalist David Helfand and violist Justin Lader, 7 p.m. at Café Love, 205 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia. $5-$10. Information: davidhelfand.com.

Pirate fundraiser for cancer awareness: Noon-6 p.m. at Gabi’s Olympic Cards and Comics, 4230 Pacific Ave., Lacey. The event is to raise money and awareness for Defuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare form of brain cancer. Ethan Tacheny died of the disease. The crew of the Emerald Rose (the B.O.O.M. Pirates) will be on hand to sing sea shanties, crack whips, sword fight and play games with attendees. Donation boxes will be set up. Pirate costumes are encouraged. Information: 360-459-7721.

Thurston County Emergency Preparedness Eepo: The free event starts at 10 a.m. at Yelm High School, 1315 W. Yelm Ave., Yelm. Every attendee will receive a free safety bag with instructions on how to create an emergency response kit. Hunter sight-in: Capitol City Rifle and Pistol Club, 14318 Littlerock Road, Littlerock, will hold a sight-in for firearms owners, starting at 9 a.m. Instruction will cover the safe handling of firearms, including loading, aiming and firing hunting rifles.
