Thurston County man to serve jail time for assault at lingerie espresso shop

A 31-year-old Thurston County man will serve 30 days in the Thurston County Jail after pleading guilty to an assault at an Olympia lingerie espresso shop.

Brent M. Ockerman pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault Tuesday in Thurston County Superior Court. He had been charged with second-degree assault shortly after his July 6 arrest, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.

Court documents give the following account of the incident:

Olympia police responded to the Foxy Lady Cafe in the 4100 block of Martin Way after a witness reported that two men were fighting in the parking lot. When officers arrives, they saw that one man’s face was swollen and bruised. He had multiple cuts, bumps and bruises on other parts of his body.

The man told police that he had gone to the Foxy Lady to meet a friend who is a barista there. He saw Ockerman — the ex-boyfriend of one of the victim’s ex-girlfriends — enter the store, so he hid in the bathroom.

As the victim began to leave the store, Ockerman confronted him, and persuaded him to step outside. He said Ockerman punched him in the face, and he fell to the ground. Ockerman proceeded to kick, punch and choke the victim, according to witnesses.

Ockerman fled the scene, but was later arrested.
