2 injured in rollover wreck on I-5 south of Tumwater

A 21-year-old Rochester man is suspected of vehicular assault after the car he was driving rolled on Interstate 5 Tuesday, seriously injuring his passenger, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers gave this account:

The brown 1997 BMW 740 lost control and swerved right, rolling several times about 1:40 p.m. on the northbound freeway, south of Tumwater.

The passenger, a 52-year-old Oakville woman, was ejected. Crews took her to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for her injuries. She had not been wearing a seat belt.

They took the driver to St. Peters Hospital.

Speed caused the crash, the State Patrol said.

Further details were not immediately available.
