Lacey man accused of raping friend at apartment

Bail was set at $20,000 on Monday for a Lacey man accused of raping a female friend.

Michael J. Moore, 28, appeared Monday in Thurston County Superior Court and faces a charge of second-degree rape. Arraignment is set for Dec. 29.

Court documents give the following account:

The victim told police she was raped Dec. 7 by a friend she identified as Moore. That evening, she had gone to watch a movie at Moore’s home at the Chambers Crest Apartments, 3301 College Lane SE, Lacey.

While watching the movie, Moore put his arm around her and started to put his hand under her shirt, and would not stop after she told him no. When she tried to leave, Moore pulled down her pants, pushed her down on the living room couch and had intercourse with her.

When she tried to leave, she said Moore stood in the doorway, started to cry and asked her to stay and “cuddle” with him. He eventually allowed her to leave and escorted her to her car, then later texted her several times to say he was sorry, she said.

The victim was treated at Madigan Army Hospital. Detectives arrested Moore on Dec. 11.
