Yelm man arrested after allegedly punctuating threat with rifle
A 62-year-old Yelm man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly threatened to shoot another man with a rifle.
Joe L. Detlor appeared before before Thurston County Superior Court Judge James Dixon on Thursday, and Dixon found probable cause for one felony charge: second-degree assault while armed with a deadly weapon.
The judge allowed Detlor to be released on his personal recognizance.
Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of an altercation at Detlor’s Yelm home on Wednesday afternoon. A man at the home reported that he and Detlor had gotten into an argument, and that Detlor had taken out a gun and threatened to shoot him, said Lt. Cliff Ziesemer.
The man reported that Detlor had said, “You’re either going to go to jail, or you’re going to be dead.” No one was injured.
Ziesemer said that deputies had responded to the home about a week earlier when Detlor and the man had argued.
