Bail set at $10,000 for Thurston County child rape suspect

An 18-year-old man was arrested Monday after he allegedly sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl.

Wilson D. Butler appeared in Thurston County Superior Court on Tuesday, and Judge Gary Tabor set bail at $10,000. Tabor found probable cause for two charges: first-degree rape of a child and first-degree child molestation.

Lacey police began investigating Butler after a woman reported that her 11-year-old daughter told her that Butler had sexually assaulted her. The woman said that Butler had made the girl touch his genitals that morning, and that he had touched the girl’s genitals sometime in the past few weeks.

According to court documents, Butler has no criminal history.
