Olympia High School teen arrested after gun is found in car
An Olympia High School student was arrested Thursday afternoon after a gun was found in his car, according to the Olympia Police Department.
Lt. Paul Lower said that detectives had been at the school interviewing the teen, a potential suspect in an attempted robbery, on behalf of another law enforcement agency. During the interview, the teen admitted that he had a gun in his car, Lower said.
“There was no indication that that gun was brought to school to threaten or hurt a student or staff member,” Lower said.
The teen was booked into the Thurston County Juvenile Detention Facility on suspicion of possession of a dangerous weapons on school facilities, a misdemeanor.
According to the Olympia School District, the teen was expelled from the school.
