Man in car recovering after being shot late Friday on Fourth Avenue in Olympia
Olympia Police Department detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred at about 11:15 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Fourth Avenue East and Puget Street Northeast.
Police Lt. Paul Lower said that one man in his 20s was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital with a gunshot wound that wasn’t life-threatening. The suspect fled the scene.
Detectives are unsure why the shooting occurred. Multiple witnesses report that the victim’s vehicle had been driving up Fourth Avenue East when the suspect’s car pulled up next to it, and someone fired a gun into the victim’s car. Witnesses said there was no road rage prior to the shooting.
Three people were in the victim’s car at the time of the shooting, but only one person was injured, Lower said.
On Saturday morning, Lower said police were unable to release a description of the suspect’s vehicle.
Detectives ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact Thurston 911 Communications at 360-704-2740 to be connected with an officer.
