Olympia man suspected of stealing bike from police station
An Olympia man was arrested Tuesday after a bicycle was stolen from the locked Olympia Police Department parking area.
David P. Bolin III, 51, appeared before Thurston County Superior Court Judge Erik Price on Wednesday. Price found probable cause for one felony charge: second-degree burglary. Bolin was released on his personal recognizance.
According to court documents, Bolin entered the fenced-off area and took a bicycle on Tuesday. The red bicycle was being stored as evidence.
An Olympia detective witnessed the theft and identified Bolin as the man he had seen inside the parking area. The incident also was captured by Olympia Police Department surveillance cameras.
An officer located Bolin pushing the bicycle through downtown Olympia and arrested him, according to court documents.
Deputy Prosecutor Heather Stone said Wednesday that Bolin has a criminal history that consists of misdemeanors, mainly in Olympia and Lacey.
