Farewell reception set for School Board member Aaron Owada
North Thurston Public Schools will host a farewell celebration for longtime School Board member Aaron Owada at 5 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Gott Administrative Building, 305 College St. NE, Lacey.
Owada, who was first elected in 1997, submitted his resignation at Tuesday’s meeting, stating that he felt the board was ready for new blood and new energy. The School Board plans to appoint someone to fill his position, which is set to expire in November 2017. However, the application process can’t begin until after Dec. 7, when Owada’s resignation is effective, according to district spokeswoman Courtney Schrieve.
The reception is open to the public. To RSVP, call the superintendent’s office at 360-412-4413.
