Yelm Community Schools Superintendent Wolf leaving post
The Yelm School Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday (May 5) to discuss how to replace Superintendent Andy Wolf, who is leaving for a job with the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA).
The public meeting will be in the district office board room, 107 First St. N., Yelm.
Wolf, who has led the nearly 5,600-student district since January 2009, is leaving to become assistant executive director of WASA. He will begin his new job July 1.
“My time here has been highlighted by the opportunity to work and collaborate with all of you,” Wolf said in a statement posted on the school district’s website. “One does not have to look far to see people who have a heart for kids and take tremendous pride in their work.”
Wolf said his new job will “allow me to refocus some of my time back toward my family and still serve education, both of which are my passion.”
He has been hired to replace John Dekker, who is retiring in June 2017.
“While it will be difficult to lose John Dekker in this administrative support and member services role, we are excited to have found someone with the breadth and depth of experience that Andy will bring to the work,” Bill Keim, executive director for WASA, said in a news release. “Having both John and Andy in the office working together during this first year will ensure a smooth transition. We look forward to having him join our team.”
