VA holding South Sound veterans town hall at American Lake this week

The Department of Veterans Affairs is holding a town hall for South Sound veterans at its American Lake hospital in Lakewood this week, following up on a similar forum it held a year ago.

VA Puget Sound has held several listening sessions around the region since a scandal over doctored reports on patient wait times in Arizona forced the resignation of former VA Secretary Eric Shinseki in May 2014.

This week, the VA plans to send several of its regional administrators to its American Lake campus, where they will answer questions from residents and give an update on efforts being made to improve access to care.

The forum is Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Building 9 at the VA Puget Sound American Lake campus, 9600 Veterans Drive SW, Lakewood.
