JBLM announces artillery drills
An artillery exercise at Joint Base Lewis-McChord could involve explosions late Tuesday and Wednesday.
The exercise is scheduled to involve howitzer cannon batteries. Residents could hear increased artillery firing in the morning, during business hours and at night, according to the JBLM public affairs office.
JBLM has two artillery battalions that fire howitzers. The battalions are required to practice firing the weapons to stay current with their operations should they be called on in an emergency.
People with comments or questions about noise can call JBLM’s external communications office at 253-967-0852.
