JBLM closes Freedom Fest to general public
Joint Base Lewis-McChord is closing its Freedom Fest event July 4 to the general public, the base announced Tuesday.
Officials “opted to conduct a smaller, low-key July 4th event this year,” the release said, which lets them put more resources toward the base’s Aug. 27-28 air show.
Freedom Fest will be open only to active duty military, National Guard, reservists, family members, military retirees, civilian employees of the Department of Defense and their guests.
The celebration runs from noon-11 p.m. July 4 at Cowan and Memorial stadiums on the base. The fireworks show starts at 10 p.m.
