Got studded tires? You’ve got about a week to get rid of them
Drivers in Washington have until Sunday, March 31, to remove their studded tires or face a $136 fine.
Washington and Oregon have the same studded tire removal date, though other states may have later dates. Washington’s law applies to all drivers, including out-of-state visitors.
Last year officials extended the deadline because of the potential for late-season snow. This week’s higher-than-normal temperatures make that unlikely.
A bill in the Washington Legislature this year to phase out the use of studded tires didn’t make it out of committee.
