Woman dies in head-on crash
A 62-year-old Lewis County woman died while driving Friday after she was involved in a head-on collision, according to the Washington State Patrol.
She was later identified as Robin K. Schmidt of Onalaska.
The 21-year-old Chehalis man who allegedly crashed into her was injured, but he declined to be taken to an area hospital, according to the State Patrol.
About 3:30 p.m. Friday, the Chehalis man was headed east on state Route 508 near Napavine when he allegedly failed to slow for traffic and swerved into the westbound lanes. He then crashed head-on into Schmidt’s vehicle.
She was driving a Hyundai Kona, while he was in a GMC Sierra pickup.
Charges are pending, according to the State Patrol.
