Marvin Road southbound blocked, 930 without power after pickup hit pole

Update (2:37 p.m.): The number of customers impacted by this power outage was lowered to 286 on PSE’s website as of 1:50 p.m. Estimated restoration time for those customers was 6 p.m.

Southbound Marvin Road Northeast in Lacey was blocked Wednesday afternoon after a Dodge pickup hit a power pole around 31st Avenue Southeast, according to Lacey Police.

The driver was trying to avoid traffic that had stopped in front of him when he veered to the side and struck the pole, said Lacey police Sgt. Jaime Newcomb. No injuries were reported.

The crash was reported just before 12 p.m., according to Thurston County 911 dispatch.

About 930 PSE customers in the area were out of service as of 12:50 p.m. The pole came down during the collision, said Puget Sound Energy spokesperson Andrew Padula, and needed to be completely replaced.

Padula said the estimated restoration time will be periodically updated on PSE’s website: pse.com/ouage/outage-map.
