Rollover on I-5 in Tumwater sends woman to hospital Wednesday

A 64-year-old woman was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after her car rolled over onto its side on northbound Interstate 5 in Tumwater, Washington State Patrol says.

The crash occurred about 7:45 a.m. near milepost 101 at Tumwater Boulevard, according to a tweet from the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The woman was driving a Jeep Cherokee that rolled over onto its side on the right shoulder, said Trooper Johnna Batiste, spokeswoman for State Patrol. The likely cause is speed. The woman was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Batiste.

“We are expected to continue to have rainy weather through the rest of the week,” Batiste said. “We encourage drivers to slow down and remember the speed limit is created for perfect roadway conditions, meaning bare and dry.”
