15-year-old on bike sent to hospital after colliding with pickup in Lacey Friday morning
A 15-year-old boy was injured and transported to an Olympia hospital Friday morning after colliding with a small Ford pickup while riding a bicycle on Mullen Road Southeast in front of Timberline High School, according to Lacey Police.
Accident investigators believe the teen was riding east on Mullen Road and crossed the road in front of the westbound pickup, which caused the collision at about 10:30 a.m., Sgt. Shannon Barnes told The Olympian.
Barnes could not share the extent of the boy’s injuries or his medical condition.
A spokesperson for Providence St. Peter Hospital, where the boy was taken, could not offer any information due to patient privacy laws regarding patients under age 18.
Barnes said the driver of the pickup stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, and that investigators also spoke to witnesses.
Westbound Mullen Road was closed for about 2-1/2 hours following the crash while police investigated, Barnes said.
