A crash near the Nisqually River Bridge on southbound Interstate 5 Friday morning caused major delays during rush hour, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The collision, which involved two cars, did not cause any injuries, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Johnna Batiste. One of the cars did tip or roll over, however.

About 7:20 a.m. Friday, WSDOT tweeted that traffic was reduced to one lane in the area, and backups quickly reached three miles. By 7:45 a.m., two lanes were open and the backup grew to four miles long.

“As crews are working to fully reopen all lanes of SB I-5 at Nisqually River Bridge, we’re seeing a 68 minute drive from Tacoma to Olympia,” WSDOT Tacoma Traffic tweeted about 8:40 a.m.

All lanes were open by 8:50 a.m.
