Impaired Mason County driver injures woman, 25, in Tuesday wreck, State Patrol says
An impaired driver struck a vehicle just north of Shelton on Tuesday, injuring a Port Orchard woman, the Washington State Patrol reports.
The collision occurred about 5:13 p.m. near the intersection of state Route 102 and Highway 101 near Sanderson Field, according to a State Patrol press memo.
WSP reports the 32-year-old Shelton man rear-ended the 25-year-old woman’s vehicle. After the collision, the memo says the woman called for help.
First responders transported the injured woman to Mason General Hospital in Shelton, per the memo. The Shelton man was not injured in the collision.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but the Shelton man faces a driving under the influence charge, the memo reads. The memo also notes the Shelton man was driving while his license was suspended.
Both drivers wore their seat belts.
The woman’s 2011 Chevy Impala was totaled in the wreck, per the memo. State Patrol described the damage to the Shelton man’s 1999 GMC Sonoma pickup truck as “non-reportable,” indicating it did not suffer significant damage.
