This Tumwater road will close for 10 hours Dec. 15, city information shows

A section of Sapp Road will close for 10 hours next week so that crews can examine the road and soil in preparation for a new culvert, according to city of Tumwater information.

Sapp Road, between Klahowya Lane and Antsen Street Southwest, will close from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m Dec. 15, according to the city.

The current culvert, which conveys Percival Creek under Sapp Road, has been identified as a fish passage barrier because of its slope. The Percival Creek fish passage barrier replacement project aims to replace the current culvert with a larger one to allow fish to pass under the road uninhibited, according to the city.

Detour routes will be clearly marked and information about the closure will be shared with local emergency districts, school districts and nearby property owners.
